Muscat: The Jabal Al Akhdar district of Wilayat Nizwa will organise rose harvesting festival in April 2020 to attract a large number of tourists to the area which is popularly known as the Green Mountains of Oman. The temperature in Jabal Al Akhdar even dips to below zero degree Celsius during winter. This creates an environment suitable for various types of agricultural activities and their increased harvests.

Announcing about the festival, Khalifa bin Saleh Al Busaidi, Deputy Governor of Nizwa said that Jabal Akhdar have exceptional tourist components due its moderate weather. He said that roses are one of the most liked plantation activities in Jabal Al Akhdar that yield very good returns. During this weather, tourists flock to the area and get a firsthand experience of rose water manufacturing.

He added that the Administration of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, as well as the tourism sector, is planning to organise the rose-picking festival in April next year. In the festival, many concerned organisations and establishments from both the private and public sectors are expected to highlight rose as one of the major farm product of Jabal Al Akhdar.

The festival aims to organise many activities, so that more and more tourists spend their nights in the Green Mountain and enjoy its beautiful weather. According to statistics, the number of visitors to Jabal Al Akhdar is increasing year after year. The rose harvesting season is undoubtedly expected to rejuvenate the tourism activity in the area.
